It’s September!
I acquired quite a few books in August so I thought I’d bring them all together in one post. I think I might have to dial back the book purchases in September as my TBR list is getting quite long. But I am only a month off starting my Christmas shopping and I love getting people books as gifts so I am super excited for that.
First up are my miscellaneously acquired books! I was given Jeff Gardiner’s Pica by Karen over at A Simple Cup of Tea – you can find her on Twitter and I highly recommend subscribing to her lovely YouTube channel for all things bookish. Thank you Karen!
I also won a book from Fairlight Books called The Tale of Senyor Rodriguez by Lou Gilmond. If you’re not familiar with Fairlight Books then take a look at their books as they are stunning. They are on Twitter and you can order books directly from their website.
Next, we have the books I have purchased myself from new. I got a copy of Alison Weir’s Jane Seymour: The Haunted Queen in anticipation of seeing her speak at Edinburgh International Book Festival.
I featured Persepolis, Suicide Club, and City of Ghosts as part of my Edinburgh book haul – you can find my Edinburgh book haul blog post here. The Lustre of Lost Things was part of my Ninja Book Club subscription box which I featured in a blog earlier this month.
Bit of a sombre looking stack but these are the books I bought secondhand this month. You can find a summary of Stardust Nation and The Gallows Pole over on my Edinburgh Book Haul blog post. I dropped into my local Oxfam bookshop and came away, as usual, a small stack of books. I could’ve easily come away with more.
I have a copy of The Haunting of Henry Twist by Rebecca F. John which looks brand new, and some lightly used copies of Lady Mary by Lucy Worsley, The Ghost’s Child by Sonya Hartnett and The Fire Sermon by Francesa Haig.
And this is the lovely stack of ARCs I’ve received from publishers. I’m so excited to review these (although I have already reviewed The Clockwork Crow by Catherine Fisher) so keep an eye on my blog for updates!

That’s a seriously impressive haul! I only managed to acquire six books – five physicals and one ebook, and I only managed to read four of them. I did read City of Ghosts and is was really good, it was quite a short read, but the story and the characters are all super interesting.
It’s so insane to think Christmas shopping will be starting soon. Like you, I love getting people books/bookish gifts and can’t wait to start!

I have to confess that wasn’t even all of them – some of them I’ve kept to one side for future blog posts! Whoops. I will be far more restrained this month. I’m glad to hear good things about City of Ghosts, going to see if I can get it read one evening this week 🙂

You had quite a haul last month! I never keep track by month. I am reading The Law of Finders Keepers by Sheila Turnage right now. It’s terrific. Another highlight for me in August was Spooked by Gail Jarrow. I read middle grade almost exclusively.

I don’t usually keep track by month but it was such a lovely haul I thought I’d include it 🙂 The Law of Finders Keepers sounds so good, I’ll add it to my TBR list. MG is definitely my favourite.
