Review
Last month I was browsing the interwebs (as you do) and came across this gorgeous book. I love Geneviève Godbout’s work so I knew I had to have it. Tundra is based in Canada so I really didn’t think I stood a chance of getting an advance copy but I emailed them anyway. A few days later they contacted me to say they were more than happy to send me a copy and I was so happy (THANK YOU, SAM FROM PENGUIN RANDOM HOUSE CANADA YOUNG READERS!).
Fast-forward about 10 or so days and Goodnight, Anne dropped through my letterbox and it has become one of my favourite children’s books this year in the age 3-7 range.
The book is inspired by Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery – if you’ve never read it then I definitely recommend you check it out, but if you haven’t please don’t let that put you off reading Goodnight, Anne.
In Goodnight, Anne, Anne says goodnight to all the people and things she loves. The illustrations are stunning but muted so it is the perfect bedtime book for youngsters. It’s gentle and loving and eases you into that relaxed state just before falling asleep.
For those of you who read Anne of Green Gables you will no doubt enjoy revisiting the characters. If not, then you will still enjoy reading this book with the younger humans in your life as a perfect bedtime story.

Ah thank you! I didn’t add this to the review but the pages also have the most satisfying texture. I’m pretty sure that’s very much a bibliophile thing (along with the smell!). Haha

Great review! I have a young niece and nephew who would love something like this, they both love books (my influence has rubbed off, haha), and the illustrations in this are gorgeous.
