Welcome back!

Sadly, not all books get finished. That’s just a fact of [reading] life – unless you’re someone who tries to finish a book no matter what! I’ve learnt this year to DNF (Did Not Finish) far more quickly and not feel bad about it.
This is my DNF list but this is not me saying don’t read them – I’m saying they were not for me. Some of them I’ve considered going back to – maybe it was just timing – and some of them definitely not.
Let me know in the comments below if there’s anything that surprises you or that you agree with!

What did you DNF this year? Let me know in the comments below!
Wishing you a bookish week,

Oooh I loved A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder! What put you off? And Outside is something that I’ve had my eye on for a while – did it not live up to the hype??

I just couldn’t get into AGGGM – I don’t feel like it was offering anything I haven’t read before and I didn’t find the writing to my liking.
I think Outside is like Marmite – I usually like unusual narratives but not this one. It lacked suspense IMHO. The concept really appeals to me but I didn’t enjoy the execution.
Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂

There have been so many mixed reviews on The Silent Patient so I have been debating whether it is worth picking up!

I finished it but I didn’t love it. It was okay but IMHO not worth the hype.

I’m having a similar reaction to hannahsbookshelf about the Anne Lamott title, which I loved. What about it put you off? Also, thanks for being willing to cop to the fact you don’t always finish books :D. Us bibliophiles can be so snobbish about it sometimes – I appreciate that someone else doesn’t always see a book through too.

Ah thanks for your lovely comment 😊 I felt that Lamott said a lot without saying anything, if you know what I mean! Haha. I also found the religious element challenging as I couldn’t relate to what she was saying.
I’m 100% on board with DNFing books, there are so many in the world and life is too short to be reading a book you’re not enjoying ☺️

Critical is one of my best books of the year! Funny how we all have different opinions 😉
I have DNFed a lot of books this year, I am getting more ruthless if I don’t like a book after the first couple of chapters.

I really struggled with the voice of Critical. I’ve read a lot of medical memoirs and this one just felt very ‘meh’. I’m getting more ruthless too – I used to feel bad but not anymore.
