Books I Want To Read By The End Of 2019 [Wrap Up 2019]

Welcome back!

I was unsure what to call this post without giving it a ridiculously long title, but it’s a list of books I want to read by the end of the year that I have already started and have been abandoned, partially read.

The thing is, these are not DNF’d books. These are books where I have just become totally distracted and have put it down in favour of something else. I have a very short attention span. You would not believe how many films I have seen the start of and have no idea how it ended (it’s a lot of films).

So here’s a list of books I want to finish reading and my progress so far. Wish me luck!

The Books

Title: Little Darlings
Author: Melanie Golding
Date started: Unknown
Page Progress: 100/324

When I originally received this book earlier this year, there was something about it that didn’t really speak to me. However, lately I decided it was something I was in the mood for and I’m enjoying it a lot. The writing is excellent.

Title: Patience
Author: Toby Litt
Date started: 5th November 2019
Page Progress: 38/249

This book is beautiful. So, so beautiful. The only reason I haven’t made significant progress is because I want to give it my undivided attention and there has not been much room for that lately. I’m excited to pick it back up again.

Title: Sherlock Holmes & The Christmas Demon
Author: James Lovegrove
Date started: 20th November 2019
Page Progress: 168/372

I am entirely grateful for this book drawing me out of a recent reading slump. I think this is going to be the one I attempt to finish first as I’ve made the most progress with it compared to the other books.

Title: The Little Girl on the Ice Floe
Author: Adélaïde Bon
Date started: 30th November 2019
Page Progress: 96/262

Just a word of caution – this book and the blurb contain details some readers may find upsetting. I started this book very recently but it’s still on my list to finish by the end of the year. Although it’s a fairly short, I am finding myself reading a little at a time as it’s quite harrowing.

Title: The Institute
Author: Stephen King
Date started: 29th November 2019
Page Progress: 24/557

I have absolutely no self-control. This was a book I was meant to be receiving as a Christmas gift but as soon as it arrived I started reading it! I’m only a few chapters in, so I am going to leave this one til last and possibly start again.

Title: The Familiars
Author: Stacey Halls
Date started: 30th November 2019
Page Progress: 5/9 hours

My only audiobook on the list, I finally managed to get The Familiars from the library. I have no idea where the story is going and the narrator has a very soothing voice. I’m hoping to read Halls’ new book The Foundling very soon.

  2. Great selection! Little Darlings was a fun read, and I’ve been meaning to get to The Familiars for a while. I just looked up The Little Girl on the Ice Floe and it sounds like harrowing but vital reading.
