Books I’ve DNF’d in 2023

Welcome to my Did Not Finish list

Sadly, there will always be books that I do not finish and abandon part-way through. Some I get further into than others, but I refuse to get drawn into the ‘sunk cost falicy’ and attempt to finish books I really don’t want to be reading.

Here’s a list of books I did not finish in 2023.

1. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin [Fiction]

I fall for book hype all the time, only to be left disappointed. I could not get on with Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow at all.

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver

2. Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver [Literary Fiction]

I saw so many people praising Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, I decided to give it a go. I do absolutely see why Kingsolver’s books are popular, but a lot of literary fiction just isn’t for me. I didn’t dislike it per se, but it’s just not my bag. I returned it to the library early since there’s likely to be someone waiting for it who will undoubtedly love it.

3. Undoctored by Adam Kay (Memoir)

I have nothing but praise for Kay’s first two books for adults. When I saw Undoctored I was hesitant because I kept wondering what else he could possibly have to say. I borrowed it from the library and honestly, my instinct was right. I unfortunately wasn’t enjoyed it and it became my third DNF victim of 2023.
